Compared to the traditional SMC with glass fibers, carbon SMC is still a very young raw material. Carbon SMC is also a flat semi-finished product (raw material). Instead of glass fibers, carbon SMC uses carbon fibers as a carrier element. Compared to parts made of aluminum, a weight reduction of up to 50% can be achieved.

Components made of carbon fiber are currently used in medical technology, sports and leisure equipment or in automotive/electromobility.

Due to a high level of functional integration in SMC pressing, components that are currently manufactured using the hand laminate or RTM process, can be produced in a cost-optimized manner.
